by Al Sura Board of Directors
In an effort to maximize individual and collective talents, Al Sura, Inc. is excited to announce changes to its leadership structure.
Effective today, Thursday, October 15,2015, the following changes will take place:
Darryl! Moch will be named the new President of the organization. He will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organization, fiscal agency of the organization and manage partnerships and agreements with other organizations looking to utilize our services in this capacity. In addition to these responsibilities, he will be responsible for contract management and the continued development of Al Sura, Inc.'s grant program. Having served in the capacity of Vice-President since joining the board, Darryl!, serving as the organization's new President positions it for newer and greater opportunities. We welcome this change and look forward to continued work with Darryl! Moch.
Abdur-Rahim Briggs and Ronald Lee Thomas will serve as Co-Chairs of the Board. In this capacity, the two will function dually in public relations and community development. This would primarily entail the management of social media platforms, the development and distribution of press releases and the continued engagement of community individuals and other organizations. In addition, Co-Chair Briggs will focus on Marketing and Co-Chair Thomas will continue to serve as Board Secretary while focusing on Research and Development with both continuing to serve in the capacity of Volunteer Management.
At-Large Board member Trinette Whitehead is named Al Sura, Inc.'s new Ombudsman. As always, Whitehead will continue to investigate, mediate, and address concerns of those individuals within the community in an effort to bring about mutually beneficial partnerships while, at the same time, overseeing by-law adherence. The positions of Vice-President and Treasurer are currently vacant and are being managed by current board members. The organization looks to have these positions filled by the close of 2015.
Al Sura, Inc. is a 501(c) (3) non-profit and public charity foundation whose mission is to improve communication, educate and promote awareness through advocacy and empowerment while addressing health disparities including, but not limited to, the fight against HIV/AIDS in our community. We will continue to bring you the great events, services, and programs we have over the years and look forward to the communities continued engagement with us.
As we move in this new direction, we encourage anyone interested in joining our board or volunteering to visit our website and complete the Board Membership form located at the center of our homepage. To commemorate this new organizational structure, we invite you to attend our Fall Reception and happy hour on Thursday, 22 October 2015, at Liv Nightclub DC at 6pm.
